To mark World Photography Day 2025, the Mokokchung Photography Club (MPC) organized a special street photography activity under the global theme “My Favourite Photo” on August 19, bringing together local photographers and enthusiasts to capture the essence of everyday life in the town.

Armed with their cameras, club members set out across various locations in Mokokchung to document candid moments of people, streets, and surroundings, celebrating the art of visual storytelling. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of photography not only as a hobby or profession, but also as a powerful medium to preserve culture, narrate stories, and inspire perspectives.

Speaking on the occasion, Moa Among Pongen, General Secretary of MPC, said that World Photography Day is an opportunity to “freeze moments in time that might otherwise be forgotten” and to encourage young photographers to pursue the craft with passion and responsibility.

The street photography activity also served as an interactive platform for members to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and engage with the community. Passersby were seen showing keen interest, with some even posing for spontaneous portraits.

Jonathan Ao, senior member of MPC, remarked, “Through such initiatives, the Mokokchung Photography Club hopes to create greater awareness about the role of photography in society while nurturing local talents who can represent Mokokchung and Nagaland through their lenses on larger platforms.”
