Alichen, 7 June (MTNews): In a recent operation conducted near Alichen, the Mokokchung Police intercepted a bike without registration number and apprehended an individual on charges of illegal arms possession. The incident occurred on 6 June during routine vehicle checking and frisking.
The arrested person has been identified as one SS “Leacy” Amento, hailing from Maromi Village under Zunheboto District and associated with NSCN (Nikki). Upon frisking the suspect, the Mokokchung Police recovered the several items from his possession, including one .32 country-made pistol with a magazine; One live round cartridge of .32 caliber; Two live round cartridges of .22 caliber; One blurred writing pad from the office of the Sumi Region Leacy Supervisor, GPRN; Fifteen work permits of GPRN Ministry of Kilo Affairs; Four signed demand slips of GPRN; One small notepad containing tax rates and other information.
In response to the incident, the Mokokchung Police have registered a case with MKG PS – II under C/No. 0027/2023. The case is filed under sections 384 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) read with 25(1B) of the Arms Act and 7 of the NSR Act. The police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
