Mokokchung Police has presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the ‘Chungtia Duty Zünga’ under Chungtia Village Council for their prompt and commendable action in apprehending three under-trial prisoners who had escaped from Mokokchung District Jail on October 30, 2025.
It may be mentioned that the three escapees were caught by members of the ‘Chungtia Duty Zünga’ near the Milak River on October 31 after the police sought assistance from the local community. Their timely intervention prevented the accused, including those involved in a murder case, from evading justice, according to Mokokchung Police.
In the certificate issued by Mokokchung Police, it was noted that the “immediate and courageous intervention of the youths of Chungtia Village not only prevented the escape of the accused involved in a murder case but also exemplified the true spirit of Police-Public Partnership in maintaining law and order and ensuring justice in society.”
Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Vesupra Kezo, NPS, expressed the department’s appreciation for the community’s cooperation and vigilance during the incident. The certificate also stated that Mokokchung Police “expresses its deepest gratitude for your exemplary support and invaluable service rendered during a time of crisis. Your cooperation and sense of responsibility have greatly contributed to upholding peace and security in the district.”
“We look forward to your continued cooperation in the days ahead,” it added. The certificate was formally issued on November 4, 2025, at Mokokchung and handed over to the ‘Chungtia Duty Zünga’ at the Senior Superintendent of Police’s office chamber.
