Mokokchung Police intercepted a truck carrying illegal liquor on April 3, 2025, during a routine checking operation along the National Highway at Tsusapang Sector. The vehicle, an LP Truck bearing registration number NL 02 Q 6311, was en route to Mokokchung Town when it was intercepted. During inspection, police recovered illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from the truck. The seizure included 156 bottles of 750 ml MC Rum and 288 cans of 500 ml Kingfisher Beer.


The driver and the consignment owner, identified as Dev Raj, son of Babu Lal, a resident of Adivasi, Assam (present address: Watiyim), and Mahesh Siyag, son of Hari Ram Siyag Prahlad Das, a resident of Nokha, Bikaner, Rajasthan (present address: Aolichen), were arrested on the spot.

A complaint under Section (e) of the NLTP Act has been filed against the two accused and forwarded to the Court for further legal proceedings.

The Mokokchung Police have reaffirmed their commitment to curbing illegal trade and ensuring public safety, stating that routine monitoring and enforcement actions will continue to uphold the law.
