Acting on intelligence input, the Quick Response Team (QRT) of Mokokchung Police on 4 June 2024, at approximately 3:30 am, intercepted a truck bearing registration number WB 25C-6150 on the Mokokchung-Mariani road. Upon inspection, the police recovered a significant haul of banned liquor, including 285 cases of MC Rum (totaling 3,420 bottles) and 225 cases of Kingfisher beer (totaling 5,400 bottles), the Additional SP and PRO Mokokchung Police said in an update.

The driver of the truck, identified as Bagai Chaora, son of the late Suren Chaora of Singimari Goan, under Borpathar Police Station in Assam, was arrested on the spot. He was brought to Mokokchung Police Station II along with the seized liquor.

A case has been registered against the accused under Mokokchung PS-II Case No. 0010/2024 under Sections 44(a)(e) of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act for further investigation.
