The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO), Mokokchung, has asked all recognised political parties in the district to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for every polling station ahead of the forthcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
In a notification issued on Tuesday, DEO Ajit Kumar Verma said the directive was issued in pursuance of instructions from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland.
The DEO said the Special Intensive Revision is aimed at ensuring that the electoral roll remains accurate, inclusive and up to date.
According to the notification, Booth Level Agents, as authorised representatives of recognised political parties, play an important role in the revision process by assisting in the verification of electoral particulars, identifying eligible electors, reporting discrepancies and coordinating with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Their participation, it stated, contributes to maintaining the transparency and credibility of the electoral roll revision process.
Recognising the importance of the exercise, the DEO requested all recognised political parties to accord top priority to the appointment of BLAs and submit Assembly Constituency-wise details to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, at the earliest.
