Smart meter installation to benefit Mokokchung power consumers, says Power Department
Electricity consumers under the Mokokchung Electrical Division have been urged to convert their existing postpaid metering units to the Smart Metering System, in line with a notification issued by the Government of India and the Government of Nagaland.
In a press release, the Executive Engineer, Electrical Division, Mokokchung, stated that the initiative is being implemented in accordance with Notification No. PWR/PREPAID METER-68/2014/339 dated March 15, 2022, issued by the Government of India and the Government of Nagaland.
“Installing Smart Meters is beneficial for consumers because the energy consumption readings are more accurate, bills are delivered on time and random billing is removed altogether,” the release stated.
It further informed that subsidies for Rooftop Solar Systems from both the Central and State governments would be made available only to consumers using the Smart Metering System.
Consumers have been advised to approach their respective Electrical Sub-Division Offices during working hours for applications and inquiries.
