Mokokchung District recorded a strong performance at the Li-Ning 48th Nagaland Inter-District and State Open Badminton Championship 2026, held in Mon from September 1 to 4, with its players securing several championship and runner-up positions across junior, senior and veterans’ categories.
The Mokokchung contingent comprised 36 players, along with a team manager, assistant manager, coach and assistant coach. Twelve parents also accompanied the team, while four technical officials from the district were part of the officiating team.
Mokokchung players emerged champions in the U9 boys’ singles, U9 girls’ singles, U11 boys’ singles and doubles, U13 boys’ singles and doubles, U19 boys’ doubles, U19 girls’ doubles, men’s singles, and 40+ and 45+ men’s doubles categories.
The district also secured runner-up positions in the U9 boys’ and girls’ singles, U13 girls’ singles, U13 boys’ doubles, U15 boys’ doubles, U17 boys’ doubles, U19 boys’ doubles, women’s doubles and 45+ men’s doubles.
Mokokchung will host the next edition of the annual state badminton championship.
