AIDS awareness
The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU/DISHA), Mokokchung under the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) organized the second edition of the Red Run marathon on 12 August 2024. Dr Kibang Imchen, Chief Medical Officer, flagged off the Red Run in which 52 students from four colleges participated. The start and finish point of the marathon run was at Police Point, Mokokchung.
Dr Kibang Imchen stressed the importance of collective action to prevent the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
The Red Run marathon aimed to engage young people in healthy lifestyles, promote safe sexual behavior, and increase awareness about HIV and AIDS services.
In the male category, Majui S, Besyemjong, and Mulai, all from Fazl Ali College, secured the top three positions respectively. In the female category, Imnatola Longchar and Imchaienla Longchar from Fazl Ali College won the first and second spots respectively, while Muchan L from Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE) secured third place.
The winners and runners-up will represent Mokokchung district at the state-level Red Run marathon race.
The Red Run marathon serves as a platform to promote healthy lifestyles and raise visibility for HIV and AIDS awareness, inspiring collective action to prevent the epidemic.
