Veteran singer Methaneilie Solo is set to make his debut performance in Mokokchung at the opening ceremony of the 25th Dr T Ao Trophy, scheduled to begin on October 13 at Renpo Lu Astro Turf, Ungma.
Solo is reportedly set to perform a song he wrote for “Mokokchung” and his popular Nagamese song, “Nagaland City Kuribole” during the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, preparations for the silver jubilee edition of the Nagaland Inter-District Football Championship are continuing at Renpo Lu, Ungma, with visible works still underway around the venue.
The tournament, organised by the Nagaland Football Association and hosted by the Mokokchung District Football Association, will bring together teams from all 17 districts of Nagaland.
Mokokchung’s team has also begun preparations at the home venue, with players seen training at Renpo Lu ahead of the tournament.
The 25th edition of the Dr T Ao Trophy is being held in Mokokchung in connection with Dr. T. Ao’s association with the district. The competition is also expected to serve as the platform for selection of the Nagaland state team for the 2026–27 Santosh Trophy.
The tournament matches will be exclusively broadcast by Sportscast India, providing viewers outside the venue an opportunity to follow the competition.
With 14 days remaining before the opening, work at Renpo Lu continues as the venue prepares to host the state’s district teams from October 13 to 31.
