A meeting of the District Task Force for Immunization was held on February 20, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Mokokchung under the chairmanship of Ajay Moktan, Assistant Commissioner, Mokokchung.
During the meeting, Dr M A Hazhar, Surveillance Medical Officer of the World Health Organization, presented an update on vaccine preventable disease surveillance and measles rubella elimination efforts. He reviewed the district’s performance in routine immunization and shared the current status of zero dose coverage, including PZD, MR 1, and MR 2. Dr Hazhar emphasised the need to strengthen and sustain high quality and sensitive vaccine preventable disease surveillance as a key step towards achieving measles rubella elimination.
Discussing district performance indicators, Dr Limanaro, District Programme Officer for UIP and RCH, noted that Mokokchung district has shown improvement across several parameters. She encouraged all stakeholders to continue coordinated efforts to further enhance immunization coverage. She also informed the meeting that healthcare workers have been carrying out regular home visits to address missed and dropout cases, particularly among vaccine hesitant families, by responding to concerns and misconceptions related to immunization.
The meeting was attended by representatives from UNICEF, allied departments, the Indian Red Cross Society, TATTVA Foundation, and staff from the Chief Medical Officer’s office.
