The three-day 2nd Inter-Departmental Tournament of Mokokchung District concluded on October 5, 2024, at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, with the School Education Department emerging as the overall champion. The event was a success and brought together various government employees from across the district for a much-needed break from their routine work.
The closing ceremony began with an invocation by Pastor Lemching of the Konyak Baptist Church, Mokokchung. The special guest, Chubayangla, Retired Principal of Fazl Ali College and member of the Mokokchung District Pensioners Association, expressed her appreciation to the organizers for conducting the event. She highlighted how such tournaments provide government employees with an opportunity to unwind and foster a better working environment. Chubayangla noted that events like this help bridge communication gaps between officers and subordinates, promoting coordination that ultimately benefits the citizens of the district. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being through participation in such activities.
Superintendent of Police, Vesupra Kezo, delivered a short speech, praising the organizers for their efforts in hosting the tournament. He added that government servants are among the most privileged members of society and have the power to make a positive impact if they work together. He also celebrated the rich sporting culture in Mokokchung and expressed his enthusiasm for more tournaments in the future.
The tournament report was presented by Er Toshikaba, Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Mokokchung, and a member of the organizing committee. Dr Sentitula, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Mokokchung, also a member of the organizing committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
The event was chaired by Rovinuo Kehie, Assistant Urban Development Officer (AUDO), Mokokchung. Students from Soul House Academy, Mokokchung, performed a special song, adding a celebratory note to the closing ceremony.
