A 40-member team from Mokokchung left for Mon on Monday morning to participate in the Li-Ning 48th Inter-District & Nagaland State Open Badminton Championship 2026, scheduled to be held from September 1 to 4.
The Mokokchung contingent comprises 36 players, along with a team manager, assistant manager, coach and assistant coach. Twelve parents are also accompanying the team.
The championship will feature competitions across various age groups and categories, including Under-9 boys’ and girls’ singles; Under-11, Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles; and Under-19 singles and doubles events. Senior singles and doubles competitions for men and women will also be held.
The tournament will also feature Under-19 Team (boys and girls) and Senior Team (men and women) championships. The tournament will also feature veterans’ doubles competitions in the 40+, 45+ and 50+ age categories.
Four technical officials from Mokokchung will also be part of the officiating team for the championship.
