New fine-dining space co-founded by young entrepreneurs begins serving Asian Continental cuisine
A new restaurant, The Social Garden, was officially opened on Wednesday at AongzaWard, Mokokchung, located near the Multi-Sports Complex. The restaurant is co-founded by Ongjena, 27, an interior designer, and Chiben, 27.
Speaking about the venture, Ongjena said she works as an interior designer and had been looking to start a side business when she began exploring marketing opportunities in 2024. During that process, she developed an interest in opening a restaurant.
She said the idea also came from a realisation that Mokokchung lacked proper fine dining spaces. According to her, finding a suitable location was not difficult as the building was still under construction when they came up with the concept.
Inspired by a garden-themed setting, Ongjena came up with the name The Social Garden.
The restaurant currently operates with two chefs and offers Asian Continental cuisine. She added that the menu was curated by her friend, Aso Jamir.
