The Tongdentsuyong Entrepreneurs Sales Day, an initiative of the Tongdentsuyong Yarisem Telok (TYT), Mokokchung, was launched today, October 16, at the ward’s Community Hall premises.

Delivering a word of encouragement, Tongdentsuyong Ward Chairman Imtichizung said that there were many educated yet unemployed youth in the ward. He shared that the ward Yimden had approved the “good idea” of organizing the sales initiative, noting its potential to deter youth from idleness and keep them engaged in productive activity. He advised vendors to cooperate with the TYT committee and expressed hope that the initiative would grow bigger and better in the future, while soliciting community support for the welfare of the ward.

A ‘baby step’ toward opportunity

Speaking on the concept of the project, Imkongsanen Imchen, MMC Councilor from Tongdentsuyong Ward, said that many skilled and talented individuals reside in the ward, and the initiative was conceptualized to create opportunities for them. He mentioned that the TYT had discussed several projects and that the Sales Day was the first to be implemented. He expressed the desire to make it a permanent initiative, adding that it would help keep the youth engaged and allow them to earn their livelihood through honest work.

He further hoped that the initiative would generate interest among more home-based entrepreneurs and kitchen garden owners who could sell their produce at the Sales Day to earn extra income. Describing the event as a “baby step,” the councilor called the vendors on the first day the “pioneers” of the initiative and expressed appreciation to them. He encouraged them to work together with the committee and invited others in the ward to join the effort, saying there was ample space and scope to accommodate more vendors. Emphasizing hard work, sincerity, and dedication, he urged the community to commit and create a shared success story.

T Imlitoshi Walling, convener of the nine-member TYT committee, who chaired the launch event, expressed gratitude to the MMC councilor and the Tongdentsuyong Yimden for their support. He noted that the initiative, conceptualized by the MMC councilor, was expected to benefit not only talented individuals but also the wider community.

Around 15 individuals are currently participating in the initiative. Walling said the stalls would remain open from morning till late evening. While the frequency of the Sales Day has yet to be decided, it may be held once or twice a week or month depending on feedback and the outcome of the inaugural event.

The permit for the Sales Day was granted free of cost by the MMC. The event was dedicated by Pastor Monglier of MTBA.
