Vandrix FC (A) lifted the championship title of “Nagaland’s first-ever” Under-15 Futsal Tournament 2025, defeating ASFC Changtongya by a solitary goal in a 30-minute thrilling final match on Thursday at the Mojabi Futsal Turf, Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung.

The tournament, organized by the Kichutip Sporting Association (KSA) under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), witnessed the participation of 32 teams from across the state.

The final match saw Vandrix FC (A)’s Sabban score the decisive goal, securing a hard-fought victory for his team. ASFC Changtongya exerted pressure on Vandrix and created chances to score but still failed to find the equalizer. Hasmai of Vandrix FC (A) received the only yellow card of the game.

The champion team, Vandrix FC (A), walked away with a cash prize of Rs 30,000, certificates, and the trophy, while runners-up ASFC Changtongya received Rs 20,000 and certificates. The two semi-finalist teams, Soyim Boys (A) and Evergreen Club, were awarded Rs 5,000 each.

Additionally, three individual players were recognized for their outstanding performances in the tournament and were awarded Rs 3,000 each along with certificates.

Lanunungkum (Jersey No. 1, Vandrix FC A) was named Best Goalkeeper, Hengoulen (Jersey No. 3, Evergreen Club) earned the title of Highest Goal Scorer with 24 goals, and Moatemsu (Jersey No. 10, ASFC Changtongya) was declared Player of the Tournament.

NI Enterprise reaffirms support for grassroots football initiatives

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the tournament as the Guest of Honour, the proprietor of one of the official sponsors of the tournament, M/s NI Enterprise and Class-I Contractor from Mokokchung, Nokdier Imchen, reaffirmed support for grassroots football initiatives.

“NI Enterprise is proud and privileged to support this initiative and remains committed to supporting similar events in the future,” Imchen declared.

In his address, Imchen also congratulated the KSA for successfully organizing the grassroots event.

Reflecting on the three-day tournament, he remarked, “We have witnessed some outstanding football and remarkable individual talents. If these young players are nurtured properly, I am confident we will see many great footballers emerge in the years to come.”

He further emphasized the importance of discipline, focus, and parental support in sports. He lauded the KSA for successfully organizing the tournament and for providing “a vital platform at the right time for children to develop their skills and sportsmanship.”

Imchen added, “While the world eagerly awaits the 2026 World Cup, I believe the Under-15 boys of this tournament are already looking forward to next year’s edition with great anticipation.”

The closing program included an invocation by Limaonen Imchen, Assistant Professor at Nagaland Bible College, and special addresses by Talitoshi Imchen, President BJP Mangkolemba District, and Imkumniba Kichu, Councillor, MMC. A special musical performance was presented by Kimalong.

Tinukaba Longchar, Convenor of the tournament, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all stakeholders, sponsors, volunteers, and teams for their support in making the event a grand success.
