Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Mon, Ajit Kumar, IAS, has informed all concerned that appropriate and respectful terminology must be used when referring to persons with disabilities in all official communications and documents, in accordance with directives from the Office of the Commissioner, Nagaland.

All Administrative Officers under Mon district, Heads of Departments and Offices, and leaders of Konyak Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong, and Konyak Students’ Union are requested to ensure compliance.

Terms such as “Divyangjan” should replace “Viklang,” “Persons with Disability” should be used instead of “Disabled,” “Intellectual Disability” should replace “Mental Retardation,” and “Hearing Impaired” is to be used in place of “Deaf and Dumb” in all official references.
