A farewell programme was held on 6th May 2025 at the Town Council Hall, Mon, in honour of the outgoing Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS. The event was attended by various officials, civil society representatives, and members of the public.

In his farewell address, Ajit Kumar Verma expressed deep appreciation to all Heads of Departments, administrative staff, civil society organisations, the police department, and the people of Mon District for their support during his nearly three-year tenure. He acknowledged the crucial role of the police, stating that without their cooperation, the administration cannot maintain law and order. He extended his gratitude to all Superintendents of Police who served during his time. Verma also encouraged officers and community leaders to continue working for the district’s development, describing Mon as a “fertile ground” with potential in sectors such as education, healthcare, and tourism.
The programme also welcomed the new Deputy Commissioner, Wennyei Konyak, NCS. In his speech, he congratulated his predecessor on a successful tenure and said it was a privilege to serve his own people.
Ajit Kumar Verma will now take over as Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung District.
Short speeches were delivered by SDPO Bendang Wati, Konyak Union President Tingtok Konyak, leaders from civil bodies, and CMO Mon on behalf of the DPDB.
