Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, has informed the public of the district that heavy rainfall is expected during the monsoon period in lowland and foothill areas of Mon District. Verma stated that the district is likely to experience inundation, waterlogging, flash floods, landslides, and rising water levels in rivers and streams due to heavy precipitation in the hill sector.

In this regard, he advised people to refrain from going to landslide-prone areas and to avoid movement and overnight stays beside river banks for picnics, fishing, and other water-related activities, or seeking shelter under large trees.

The DC further urged people to be vigilant on hill roads, noting features like cracks on road surfaces and slopes, and to alert authorities. He also directed concerned Area Administrative Officers, Village Disaster Management Authorities, Village Council Chairpersons, Goan Buras, and Ward Authorities to take precautionary measures and remain alert to any emergencies caused by natural calamities to save lives and properties.

It is commonly found among personnel in the engineering industry who have long experience of asbestos. It is caused by moving into asbestos insulated buildings for a long period of time, Genetics plays a huge role, and some individuals are more vulnerable on the risk when compared with others.
