The Mon District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on 9 November 2024 at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, chaired by MLA C Manpon Konyak.
The Chairman expressed his gratitude to all the Heads of Departments (HoDs) posted in Mon for their dedicated service in uplifting the district. He also encouraged them to actively participate and attend the monthly DPDB meetings to ensure holistic development across all sectors.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the board discussed and approved applications for the registration of the following societies: Fusion Foundation, Jahjon Ward; Shahgoth Cultural Society, Sheanghah Chingyu Village; and Visionary Foundation, New Site.
Following a thorough discussion, the board decided to forward to the government a petition for upgrading the SDO Civil office to an ADC office. The board also approved the relocation of GPS Shamnyu Ward in Mon Town and recognized two new villages—Totok Maohnyu under Mon Sadar and Longwa Lailo Village under Phomching.
After extended deliberation, the board nominated Council Chairmen from Chi and Mon villages for positions in the Town Council and DPDB. District Planning Officer V. Aron Sema also presented the verification report on the Constitution of LADP 2024-25.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Health and Family Welfare P Paiwang Konyak; Advisor for Treasuries & Accounts and Art & Culture, Konngam Konyak; Advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak; Advisor for Geology & Mining and DUDA, W Chingang Konyak; and MLAs Mankhao Konyak, A Nyamyie Konyak, and Neiba Konyak.
Later in the evening, an Advent Christmas program organized by the Mon District Planning and Development Board, along with the elected representatives of Mon district, was held at Helsa Resort. During the program, P Paiwang Konyak, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, shared his reflections on Christmas. Manpon Konyak, MLA and DPDB Chairman, delivered a speech on behalf of the legislators, and the welcome address was given by Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Mon.
The evening concluded with a musical extravaganza and a Christmas feast.
