The District Magistrate of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, has issued a warning against the flying of drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over or near military establishments and other sensitive areas in Mon District.
According to the District Magistrate, the Assam Rifles informed him that unauthorized drone activities have been observed around the Assam Rifles camp in Mon, which poses a serious threat to security, public order, and safety.
In response, the District Magistrate has directed all citizens, residents, visitors, organizations and media personnel to strictly refrain from flying, operating or using drones or UAVs in and around Assam Rifles camps, military establishments, and other restricted or sensitive areas within Mon District.
The order states that anyone found violating these instructions will face legal action and that such drones shall be neutralized, jammed or confiscated by security agencies as deemed necessary.
The directive is effective immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
