The Executive Engineer of the Electrical Division Mon, K Tingtenmoie Konyak, has issued a stern warning regarding the illegal usage of electric poles for hanging Optical Fiber Cables (OFC) without proper authorization.

Emphasizing the legal ramifications under Section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003, Konyak stated that illegal connections, hooking, looping of electric supply lines, tampering with meters, and unauthorized use of electric poles are punishable offenses.

According to the EE, it has come to his notice that there are such cases in some colonies of Mon Town where illegal usage of poles for hanging of OFC cable are occurring without the permission for usage of electric poles from the department. He also highlighted the severe hazards posed by handling electricity-related materials without adequate technical knowledge and skills.

In response to these findings, Konyak has directed telecom companies to immediately coordinate with the department to remove the telecom cables from the poles. He emphasized that any telecom company found in violation would be held accountable for any injuries or technical accidents resulting from the tilting, bending, or damage of the poles.
