Four Naga writers receive Writers International Network Canada Literary Awards 2026

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Wangkhao Government College, Mon, in collaboration with the Writers International Network, Canada, organised an International Literary Gala on the theme Celebrating Literature Across Borders at the college on February 7, 2026.

Poet, Writer, Translator, Community Activist & President WIN Canada, Ashok Bhargava with the (WIN) Canada Literary Awards 2026 awardees and others during the International Literary Gala held at WGC, Mon on February 7.

Ashok Bhargava, poet, writer, translator, community activist and President of Writers International Network, Vancouver, Canada, attended as the guest speaker. Expressing gratitude, he said he was honoured to be part of the programme and noted that poetry, beauty, dreams and aspirations exist within everyone. He encouraged participants to stand up for who they are, preserve tradition, literature and the environment, and take pride in their identity. He also introduced the Writers International Network.

Bhargava presented the Writers International Network Canada Literary Awards 2026 to Mhonlumo Kikon, Vishu Rita Krocha, Kemya Yanlam and Dr. Tialila Kikon, while acknowledging the college IQAC.

Delivering the keynote address, Principal Dr. Tialila Kikon said literature acts as a vital bridge promoting cross cultural understanding and shared human experiences, describing it as a “melting pot” that reflects all aspects of human life. The programme included a book talk, a visual storytelling presentation and cultural performances, and concluded with closing remarks by the IQAC coordinator.
