It may be recalled that the NPF won 5 out of 9 assembly seats from Mon district in the last assembly election but all 5 switched to NDPP earlier this year.

In a ‘Joining Letter’ addressed to the NPF Mon Division, Er. Thomas Konyak, stated that he is joining the party along with several leaders and “thousands of voters from distinguished villages of 41 A/C Tizit.” The assembly constituency is currently represented by P. Paiwang Konyak of the BJP.

In his letter, the intending candidate said that NPF is one of the oldest regional parties with the principles and objectives of working for the uplift of Naga society. He also stated that he hopes to see Nagaland at greater heights under the leadership of party president Shurhozelie Liezietsu and NPF Legislature Party leader Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu.

“I am more than convinced and committed to work for the party upholding the principles and constitution of the party for the larger interest of the people,” he added.
