The North East Media Forum (NEMF), in association with My Home India, has announced the winners of the 3rd Kalyan Barooah Awards 2025, with the spotlight on Monalisa Changkija, former Editor of Nagaland Page, who has been selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Changkija, one of the most prominent journalistic voices from Nagaland, is being recognized for her decades-long contribution to journalism in the Northeast. Her consistent commentary on governance, rights, gender issues and regional politics has shaped public discourse and inspired generations of young journalists across the region.
The five-member jury – former AIR Director General Moushumi Chakrabarty, senior journalists Achinta Bora (PTI), Sandeep Phukan (The Hindu), Sachin Gogoi (BBC), and IIMC Aizawl Regional Director Prof. Shashwati Goswami – evaluated nominations across multiple categories before conferring the honor.
In other award categories, Amal Goswami (Dainik Janambhumi, Assam) won in the Print category; Kshetrimayum Premchand (SKTV News, Imphal) received the Electronic Media Award; and Mridul Kumar Handique (Pratidin Digital, Assam) was selected for the Digital Media Award. No entries were received for Still Photography and Videography.
The awards will be presented on December 11, at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, coinciding with the birth anniversary of late Kalyan Barooah.
The NEMF is a Delhi-based organization of journalists from the Northeast working in Delhi-NCR and those reporting on the region. My Home India, which partners in the awards, works to strengthen emotional integration between the Northeast and the rest of the country.
