Mokokchung, 4 May (MTNews): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) on Thursday submitted a representation to the Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, Nagaland against transfer and posting of teachers from “Eastern districts to Non-Eastern districts without proper scrutiny.”
It stated that there are innumerable cases of transfer posting of teachers from Eastern districts to Non-Eastern districts without proper scrutiny, and demanded that the matter of “premature, illegal and irrational massive postings and transfers be monitored in its strictest sense.”
The ENSF said that the Eastern districts are overburdened by the declining level of quality education and added that the students are left behind, not receiving the education they deserved, due to the lack of sufficient teachers. The ENSF stated that it was concerned by “these sudden and unfortunate transfers” that prevent the faculty from developing a “steady relationship with the students” and said, “The harmful practice of excessive teacher transfers should be halted with immediate effect.”
The ENSF reminded that the order of the Education Department, Government of Nagaland dated 9 January 2009 that states “No post shall be transferred out of the District along with the incumbent” be implemented.
It further appealed that “the tendency of implementing postings and transfers of teachers at inter-district level at whims and fancies be curbed.”
The federation also appealed that “postings and transfers be made on a specific time period, keeping in mind the assessments of teachers enlisted for the same” and that the “cavalier manner of implementing postings and transfers” be stopped instantly.
