600 people treated, including homebound patients, on day-2

A two-day free multispecialty health camp, organized by Mopungchuket Baptist Church (MBC) as part of its quasquicentennial (125th) year, began on Friday at Impur Christian Hospital (ICH), Mokokchung, and concluded on Saturday at Mopungchuket village. Regarded as one of the largest of its kind in Nagaland, the camp catered to the Asetkong Range on Friday, where 394 patients received treatment, while another 600 patients were treated on Saturday at Mopungchuket.

Villagers wait for their turn to consult doctors while others collect prescribed medicines during the free multispecialty health camp held at Mopungchuket village on August 30.

Services at the camp included Dental, ENT, Pain Medicine, Optometry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pathology, Surgery, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Physiotherapy, Homeopathy and Ayurveda, Ultrasonology, and Community Medicine. Screening for tuberculosis and other infectious diseases was conducted in collaboration with the National TB Elimination Programme and the Mobile ICTS team. Preliminary assessments in the triage area by senior doctors, along with hospital-based investigations, were also provided.

In Mopungchuket, apart from outpatient care, the medical team also treated 16 home patients and provided medication.

Of the 35 doctors from Mopungchuket, 33 are still alive, and at least 16 of them rendered their services during the camp, joined by six doctor in-laws. They were assisted by 15 technicians and around 70 healthcare workers and nursing staff.

Mopungchuket Baptist Church will mark its quasquicentennial celebration on December 27–28, 2025.

During the two-day medical camp, a total of 183 ultrasonographic examinations were performed, including 83 at Impur and 101 at Mopungchuket. Additionally, 103 radiographic (X-ray) investigations were conducted, with 52 in Impur and 51 in Mopungchuket. Corrective eyewear was dispensed to 80 individuals requiring vision support. Laboratory investigations included blood tests for 625 patients.

Major medical conditions identified during the camp included renal cystic carcinoma, gallbladder disorders, fibrous cysts, Trichomonas Vaginalis (TV) infection, hepatitis, and HIV. Screening also revealed cases of elevated blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and other non-communicable diseases. Patients diagnosed with suspected malignancies, including possible cancer cases, were referred to higher tertiary care centres for further management.

Several gynecological health concerns were also identified. Patients received appropriate medical counselling and pharmacological support, with medications provided amounting to substantial monetary value. In addition, dental extractions and other essential oral care procedures were performed during the camp.
