A meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) for Niuland district was held on July 1 at the DC Conference Hall, Niuland.
Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Chairperson of the DISHA Committee, Supongmeren Jamir, said the purpose of the meeting was to assess the achievements and challenges faced by departments in implementing various schemes and projects in the district. He urged members to raise issues and concerns without hesitation.
During the review meeting, the Departments of Agriculture, Water Resources, Veterinary and Labour made detailed presentations on their activities and programmes in the district.
Following the Agriculture Department’s presentation, Jamir suggested setting up a cold storage facility for agricultural produce in the district. After deliberations, he asked the district administration to prepare a clear roadmap for establishing the facility.
Jamir also held extensive discussions with officials of the Water Resources, Agriculture, Veterinary and Labour departments.
Reviewing the status and prospects of dairy production in the district, he said dairy products have significant market potential and urged the concerned officials to re-examine dairy farming initiatives in Niuland.
On the issue of poor network and communication connectivity in the district, Jamir assured that he would take up the matter with the concerned authorities.
