Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), S Supongmeren Jamir, on Friday visited the Martoshi Memorial Mission Project Longmisa (MMMPL) at Lishitsüyong, located in the Minkong area under the territory of Longmisa village.

The project is named in honor of Martoshi, the first Christian convert from Longmisa village. According to MMMPL Chairman Sashikumzuk, the initiative was launched in 1986 following a resolution by the Longmisa village council, church, and youth to commemorate Martoshi’s legacy through a meaningful community venture.

The mission project, a dammed fishery pond, was established with the objective of generating revenue to support students from economically weaker sections of the village in pursuing both theological and secular education. Proceeds from the sale of fish harvested from the pond go toward supporting the project’s objectives.

Speaking at the event, MP Jamir commended the villagers for launching and sustaining the initiative. He expressed particular appreciation for the collaboration between the village council and the church, highlighting it as a model for community-driven development. Encouraging continued unity and effort, he expressed hope for greater success and God’s blessings upon the community.

Also addressing the gathering were Merensosang Jamir, Chairman of the Longmisa Village Council, and council member Imosanen Pongen. Rev T Toshi, Pastor of Longmisa Baptist Church, and Rev Supongchiten, Pastor of Longsa Baptist Church, offered the invocation and benediction, respectively.

The event concluded with the harvesting of fish from the mission pond.
