Janata Dal United (JDU) Nagaland received all the political leaders turning up in Nagaland from Bihar state to commemorate 120th birth anniversary of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan and all Nagaland Bihari Conference organised by three organizations & Foundation – 1. Matri Foundation, 2. Bihari Samaj, 3. Kalyan Samaj.

History of Jayaprakash Narayan:

Why JP along with his family came to Nagaland to take up the responsibility of working for peace in Nagaland. and spent most of the time in understanding the people of Nagaland.

The Naga Hills in the Assam State of India saw political unrest from 1947 until 1963. Despite being granted independence in 1963 with the sole intention of fostering peace, the Naga Nationalist Leaders continued to demonstrate their adamant rejection to any partial resolution to the Naga political movement for full sovereignty. Armed Naga factions and the Indian armies started engaging in intense combat in the newly formed state.

The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) intervened at this point to take the initiative to establish a Peace Mission with the assistance of the GOI. Jaya Prakash Narayan (JP), an Indian social worker, and Bimla Prasad Chaliha, the previous Assam Chief Minister at the time and Rev. Michael Scot, an English Baptist minister from England.
