Mokokchung, 2 October (MTNews): The Mokokchung Town Baptist Church organized a retreat for ‘children from other districts’ on Monday at the MTBA church in Mokokchung, with 428 participants taking part in the retreat.
According to Rev Ponen Longchar, Pastor of MTBA, the church has been organizing such retreats for ‘children from other districts’ for the past ten years. The ‘children from other districts’ are individuals who mostly come to the town for educational purposes from different districts and states, residing with guardians. The pastor also explained that the purpose of these retreats is to prepare them mentally and spiritually, helping them understand the value of education so that they can contribute positively to their communities when they return to their hometowns and villages.
The retreat featured two sessions during which the participants received enlightening guidance from the resource persons. The MTBA Youth Department led them in singing, worshiping, and engaging in fun activities. Participants were divided into two groups based on their age: those aged 13 and below had their sessions at the MTBA Conference Hall, while those aged 14 and above gathered at the main church.
The resource persons for the retreat were Rev P Chuba, Rev Wati Pongen, Longjendi, and Sashimenla.
