The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has come out strongly in support of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) over the “pathetic condition” of the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), particularly flagging the “visible sub-standard works being conducted at the new hospital blocks.”

In a press release issued on Monday, the MTLT said it “strongly endorses the demands of the Ao Students Conference (AKM)” and expressed appreciation for the student body’s initiative to carry out an on-spot inspection of the ongoing construction works at IMDH on May 21.

“The MTLT deeply appreciated the genuine concern of the AKM and for undertaking an on-spot inspection of the on-going works at the IMDH and taking stock of the situation,” the statement read.

Echoing the AKM’s demands, the MTLT urged the concerned authorities, “especially the contractor – KC Infra Projects Pvt. Limited – to take the matter with all seriousness and rectify their mistakes at the earliest.” It further joined the AKM in appealing to the State Government “to give special emphasis on the IMDH construction works as its completion is long overdue.”

Highlighting the crucial role of the hospital, the MTLT stated, “It is without saying that the IMDH is the first referral point for the patients in Mokokchung and it remains the only hope for many patients to find a cure to their ailments.”

The organisation asserted that the grievances raised by the AKM were genuine, calling on the authorities to act swiftly: “Whatever dissatisfactions the AKM have raised with regard to the IMDH are the genuine concern of the public and the authorities must address them immediately.”

The MTLT concluded by extending its full support to the AKM and its future course of action: “The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem is ever ready to stand with the AKM and render our wholehearted support to any course of action they take with regard to the IMDH issue.”
