The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF), the Sümi Totimi Hoho, and the Phek Area Public Organization (PAPO) have strongly condemned a series of sexual assaults and death threats directed at a woman from Phek district by Hekugha Chophy of Tsutoho Village, Zunheboto district.

According to the CYF, the latest incident occurred on 24th September 2025, when Chophy allegedly assaulted a bonafide member of the organization in her home. The CYF claims that the accused has previously targeted the victim multiple times. In a statement, the organization urged law enforcement agencies to intensify their investigation and apprehend the suspect immediately, warning that his continued presence poses a threat not only to the victim but to the wider community. The CYF also cautioned the public against revealing the victim’s identity and stressed that anyone sheltering or aiding the accused would be held responsible.

“The CYF shall not remain a mute spectator but will initiate its own course of action if the perpetrator is not arrested at the earliest,” the statement read, emphasizing the need for public cooperation and swift justice.

The Sümi Totimi Hoho condemned the crime as “heinous,” noting that Chophy, a member of the NSCM (IM) faction, had allegedly attempted to rape and murder the victim, Miss Vedukholu, who serves as the prayer house keeper at Kizari village. The organization expressed solidarity with the survivor and highlighted that such crimes reflect deeper societal issues perpetuating violence and discrimination.

PAPO, in a communique superseding an earlier statement from 4th October 2025, reiterated its condemnation of the assaults and regretted the inadvertent public disclosure of the victim’s identity. The organization called on authorities to take the matter seriously, provide necessary security for the victim, and ensure justice is delivered swiftly. PAPO also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the victim.
