In a significant breakthrough, the Tuensang Police have successfully solved the complex blind murder case involving the death of police personnel ABC Soyimkumba Ao. The case, which had no initial clues, was cracked after nearly three months of rigorous investigation, led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) PS Tuensang, Inspector of Police (I/O) UBSI Yongkongtoshi, with assistance from Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Putiyanger, In-Charge of the Cyber Cell Tuensang, a press release from the Tuensang Police received here stated.
“Through the diligent work and meticulous investigation of the Tuensang Police team, five suspects who were identified as: Lumkhalong (35), Litsachem (36), Thepise (42), Chempise (42), and Chaanglemba (42) and they admitted to have abducted and assaulted Lt. Soyimkumba Ao due to a financial dispute, which ultimately led to his tragic death,” the press release continued.
The investigation revealed that the accused attempted to stage the murder as a suicide case by means of leaving the death body hanging.
“Tuensang Police solved the case with perseverance and precision, delivering justice for the victim and his family. The Tuensang Police remain committed to ensure the safety and security of the community and appreciate the cooperation extended by the public in solving this challenging case,” it added, stating that further investigations are ongoing, and the police will continue to follow all legal procedures to ensure a fair trial for the accused.
It may be noted that Soyimkumba, a police personnel of Tuensang DEF who went missing from his home on July 11, 2024 was found dead on July 19, 2024 at a farmhouse in New Tuensang Village. He was initially suspected to have died by suicide by hanging.
Soyimkumba was noted to be absent from his duties, prompting an inquiry. His wife reported that he had been missing from home since July 11.
