The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has issued an appeal to leaders of various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), groups, and self-interested individuals, urging them not to interfere in the upcoming Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) election. According to reports, the NCD during an extraordinary meeting of councilors discussed the need for peaceful conduct during the upcoming DMC Election, noting that the Dimapur Municipal Council area is particularly susceptible to unlawful activities during such events.
The NCD has resolved in the strongest terms that leaders of any organizations, groups, individuals, politicians, and non-residents of DMC jurisdiction should refrain from involvement in the ULB election for personal gain. The council emphasized that it will closely monitor any anti-social elements in and around Dimapur district. It warned that any organizations, groups, parties, or individuals from outside the area causing disturbances will do so at their own risk and will be held fully accountable for any resulting incidents.
Expressing concern over the lack of recent development in Dimapur city, the NCD appealed to the electorate to view the upcoming ULB election as an opportunity for progress. It urged voters to exercise their franchise and elect candidates who will work towards development and progress in the city.
Additionally, the NCD called upon the state government to deploy sufficient security manpower at all polling stations and ensure adequate security for voters. This, they emphasized, is essential for conducting free and fair elections and ensuring the safety of all voters.
