Mokokchung, October 6 (MTNews): The Naga Hoho has expressed its dismay over the “devilish design of the Government of India” for the false promises and assurances to the Nagas in particular and the North-East region in general and has demanded for “complete withdrawal of the Draconian Act from the region once and for all.”

“Let the voice of the people reign over for peace and just peace,” Naga Hoho said.

The Hoho, in a press release on Wednesday, also pointed out that the continued policy of the GoI to traumatize, wage proxy wars and create psychological threats against the Nagas deserves condemnation from every right thinking citizen.

The Hoho further asked why India had to “play fool” with the Sentiments of the Naga people when political rights of the Nagas had been officially recognized by India.

“When the popularly elected democratic government of Nagaland had recommended for repeal of the infamous AFSPA 1958, the GoI seems to reject and discard the voice of the people,” it added.

According to the Hoho, there cannot be true peace and mutual respect through the barrel of a gun. And therefore, “the draconian law” must go away from the land, it maintained.

“The extension of AFSPA in the Naga areas is only the justification of how India had forcefully occupied the free Naga land,” the Hoho stated.

The Hoho also said that even as they look forward with hope for a peaceful resolution to the Indo-Naga Political issue, there cannot be true spirit of peace and tranquility with AFSPA in place.

“To make the matter worse, the recent deliberate attempt of the Indian Army to kill innocent Naga citizens with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted in Puilang (Kambiron) village under Tamenglong District of Manipur, on 24th September, 2022 is one glaring proof,” the hoho continued and added that the Naga people is “outraged and anguished” by the terrors created by the Indian Army over the Naga people.

“The patience of the Naga people should not be misunderstood as weakness,” it stated.
