The Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA), Delhi has expressed deep anguish over the killing of four Naga cadres and condemned the subsequent incidents of mob violence, calling for restraint and adherence to the rule of law.
In a press statement, the NSA described the fratricidal killings as “deeply unfortunate” and said such acts undermine “the collective aspirations, unity, and dignity of the Naga people,” particularly at a critical stage in the Naga political journey.
It cautioned that the developments risk eroding the foundations of trust, reconciliation, and shared purpose necessary for a peaceful and honourable resolution.
While acknowledging that grief and anger arising from the incident are understandable, the NSA cautioned that “responses driven by retaliation and mob justice only aggravate divisions and prolong cycles of violence.”
The NSA stressed the need to resist emotional reactions that could destabilize society from within and called on all stakeholders to exercise restraint. It urged that the matter be subjected to a “fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation,” adding that those responsible must be held accountable through established principles of justice.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, the NSA reiterated the need for “truth, accountability, and healing,” and stated that “moral clarity, responsible leadership, and collective discipline” are essential at this juncture.
The association also appealed to all sections of society to remain calm, act with reason, and reaffirm a shared commitment to peace, unity, and reconciliation.
