Phek, November 1 (MTNews): Leader of NPF Legislature Party and Co-Chairman of UDA, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, lamented that the Naga society is not progressing due to lack of self-sustenance and asserted that if every individual is self-reliant and self-sustaining in the community, then there will be peace and harmony.
NPF Press Bureau in a release reported that he said this while speaking at the 2nd general body meeting of the women self-help groups, Phek Block Level Federation of Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) at Phek town hall as special guest on Tuesday.
Kuzholuzo expressed his dismay over the Nagas being dependent and not hard working. He stressed that every individual need to work for self-sustenance and said that unless each individual is independent, the society will never progress.
The NPF leader also expressed happiness that Naga women are advancing with the time, saying that women are now performing at par with menfolk and added that women are doing better than men in many fields as they are more sincere and dedicated.
Stating that he is impressed to see the improvement of womenfolk’s status after introduction of Self Help Groups, he lauded the various schemes and programs provided by the Government and particularly the State Rural Livelihood Mission, where many womenfolk were now independently working and sustaining the whole family through this program.
He also observed that the dedicated and sincere women are going ahead of men and many families are seen sustained by the women.
Exhorting the womenfolk in the program, the NPF leader called upon them to put God first and work with honesty and dedication and encouraged them to continue to work towards self-sufficiency, be self-dependent and work towards self-reliance.
He was also of the view that, when the whole society is self-reliant, then the society will be corruption free.
Dwelling on clean elections, the UDA Co-Chairman said that it has to start from individual and the community and that the public is also to be attributed to the corruption in the Government system we talk about.
The DRDA Project Director, Razukhru D Vasa, who also spoke on the occasion, said that under the NSRLM many women became independent and with this program, many menfolk were now dependent on women.
He also expressed his happiness over the progress of women status due to SHG programs and mentioned that the NSRLM is one of the best programs for the uplift of women. He also lauded the Phek Block Level Federation where 22 Villages were under it for utilizing the schemes in a proper way.
Short speeches were also delivered by Zhalie Puro, ADPM NSRLM Phek and Heipeuding Ilunglung, BDO cum BMM NSRLM Phek.
Later in the afternoon, the NPF Leader of the Legislature Party also unveiled the rostrum of the New Playground of the Phek Basa Village, it was reported.
