Dimapur, November 30 (MTNews): Naga society today requires forgiveness and reconciliation at multiple levels and Nagas as a group of people living in the same place with common characteristic and interests, MLA & Advisor of Power Department, Nagaland, H Tovihoto Ayemi said while addressing the Golden Jubilee celebration of Dimapur Sümi Council on Tuesday at Dimapur Sümi Baptist Church as the special guest.
According to him, growth and prosperity of Naga society and its peace and harmony should be the primary objective of all citizens and added that society cannot progress without the contribution of each and every member of the society.
Greeting the Sümi community of Dimapur and the Sümi Council in particular, Tovihoto said, jubilee is the time for emancipation and restoration of peace and harmony and also to progress ahead with renewed vision for the betterment of Naga society. He, therefore, called upon the Sümis of Dimapur under the banner of Dimapur Sümi Council to be the harbinger of communal harmony while also encouraging them to preserve the cultural values of the people.
Thanking the leaders and members of other Naga tribes for their support and participation in the celebration, Tovihoto said that Nagas must continue to live together as brothers, one people and in ways that can reflect good relationships with each other, and in the ‘righteousness of God’.
He also called upon the Sümis of Dimapur to honor those who contributed in all aspects to give and create a Sümi Council which is an identity of existence of Sümi tribe in Dimapur and encouraged the community members to aptly use the platform for the benefit of not only Sümis but the whole of Naga people.
