In an inspiring act of compassion, Kewe Mero, a part-time content creator and YouTuber from Dimapur, has successfully wrapped up a crowdfunding campaign for Watirenla Longchar, a 14-year-old girl from Nokpu Village in Longchem under Mokokchung District who has been battling Lupus, a rare autoimmune disease.

Within just four days, the campaign raised a remarkable amount of Rs 4,30,447 demonstrating the powerful impact of community solidarity.

According to Mero, faced with financial difficulties, Watirenla’s family reached out to him for help. Mero launched the crowdfunding campaign on the evening of August 31, 2024, via his YouTube channel. The campaign, which concluded on September 4, 2024, saw an outpouring of support from the community.

Mero thanked the public and viewers who generously contributed to the cause and extended his gratitude to all those who kept Watirenla in their prayers.

Mero has been involved in several social causes both offline and online. He is a sociologist with a Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, Nagaland, a Master’s degree in Sociology from Savitribai Phule Pune University, and a B.Ed. from Bosco College of Teacher’s Education.
