The Core Committee of the All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 Batch has decided to continue its peaceful and democratic sit-in protest indefinitely, citing delays and stagnation in the processing of their regularization.

In a letter addressed to the Commissioner & Secretary of School Education and SCERT, Nagaland, and Member Secretary of the HPC Agreement 2022, the ANATG stated that it was “ not the ambition nor the interest of the ANATG to exercise or resort to peaceful protest during 2018, 2022, and even this time.”

ANATG added that, however, owing to the “delayed and stagnated nature of processing our regularization,” the ANATG was constrained to serve an ultimatum on 19th December 2025.

The letter, submitted through the Principal Director of School Education, added that the group was disheartened by the lack of attention or communication following the ultimatum.

“Your kind office is aware of numerous representations, appraisals and approaches made by the ANATG so as to enable the department to expedite our long pending issue in a conducive and constructive manner,” the letter read. “It also disheartened us when no attention or a considerate communication was given to our ultimatum. Consequently the ANATG left with no option had resorted to peaceful protest,” it added.

The ANATG acknowledged receipt of a response from the Commissioner & Secretary of School Education dated 13 February 2026, requesting the group not to resume their suspended hunger strike or protest, so authorities could work in a conducive atmosphere to expedite their regularization.

The letter also referenced communication from the Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, dated 12 February 2026, assuring that the legitimate demands of ANATG are under active consideration and will be addressed in a time-bound and constructive manner.

However, ANATG held a general meeting on 16 February 2026 at the protest venue to discuss the letters. After detailed discussions, the general members unanimously decided to continue their peaceful sit-in indefinitely, warning it may “likely be intensified unless a definite and justified timeframe is assured in letter and spirit.”

The letter was signed by Core Committee Convener Temsuchiba Aier, Secretary Lhovito Sheqi, and the presidents of the district units of Kohima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Tuensang, and Pughoboto. The group requested the authorities’ prompt and judicious response at the earliest.

Meanwhile, a source said a “Chief Ministerial level meeting” was held on February 16 regarding the issue, and the Advisor of School Education has invited the ANATG to a meeting at the directorate at 11 am on February 17.
The ANATG members from across Nagaland have been in Kohima for 13 days protesting the delay in their service regularization.
