Union MoS, Chandrashekhar unveils NEILIT plaque in Dimapur
Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrashekhar unveiled the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Dimapur plaque and launched NECB 2.0 project, and also electronically unveiled the plaque in four more extension NIELIT centres in North East states i.e. Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Pasighat, and Senapati.
The Union Minister in his speech outlined the vision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Digitisation program that was based on three objectives. Using technology to transform the lives of ordinary citizens and therefore improve governance and democracy. Create more opportunities for our youth and expand the digital economy and investment. Creating global leadership capabilities in India.
Reflecting on the COVID19 pandemic management in India, the Minister stated that technology has enabled the government and governance to deliver every Rupee meant for every beneficiary directly to their accounts without any corruption or delay. India, being one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and fastest-growing startups and innovation ecosystems in the world, has produced hundreds of unicorns (billionaires) and has received the highest FDI in the world, and vaccinated 180 crore people. He said that India has overcome the turmoil and challenges of the pandemic even if countries such as China and US are still struggling with the 3rd & 4th waves of COVID19. “Looking back to the last several years, we assume that technology has played a defining role in the rise of new India,” he added.
Encouraging the students to be part of the new Digital India, the minister stated that the IT & Electronics Department alone has created almost 10 lakh new jobs in the past year, and students who have the digital skill and digital specialization will get tremendous new opportunities in jobs and entrepreneurship. Nagaland and NE can produce unicorns only if students work hard and create innovation, he said, assuring the students that the central govt is actively working with the state government to provide opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurship. The Minister also interacted with the students of four states.
Meanwhile, Imnatiba, Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Labour, and Employment & Entrepreneurship, Nagaland, acknowledged the central minister and his team for reaching remote areas of the State and identifying the aspirations of the youths which indicates the Central government is a people-centric government.
Mmhonlumo Kikon, Advisor, IT & Communication, S&T, NRE, stated that inaugurating five NIELIT centres in the NE region is indeed the vision and policy of the Prime Minister to reach out to the last mile, and that the people were witnessing one such event today. According to the Advisor, there are 16 e-services going online in various departments in the state. In terms of e-governance, Nagaland is the best-performing state in the NE and second in Electronics transactions in NE and acknowledged that the state is steadily progressing in the field of IT sectors.
