Following recent tensions in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB), the governments of Nagaland and Assam have agreed to conduct all future activities in the region jointly.
An official communiqué from the Nagaland Chief Secretary’s office stated that the decision follows a joint eviction drive by the two states aimed at removing illegal encroachments. “To address the matter, the chief ministers of Nagaland and Assam held discussions and agreed that henceforth, all activities in the DAB, including plantation, will be undertaken jointly by the two states,” the communiqué said.
The joint decision underscores the commitment of both governments to maintaining peace and cooperation in border areas, the communiqué added.
