Mokokchung, September 22 (MTNews): In the 12th session of the 13th Legislative Assembly held on September 22, 2022, the House unanimously decided that the Foothill Road would be completed with the North Eastern Council (NEC) fund.

 

 

This decision comes after MLA Imkong L Imchen on ‘Matters of Urgent Public Importance’ under Rule-54 pertaining to “Foothill Road Construction” said that the construction of the Foothill Road would help ease the Assam-Nagaland border issue.

 

He also said that the construction of Foothill would not only benefit “one tribe” but benefit “everyone in Nagaland.”

 

“This route would bring expected and unexpected development in the State and the demand for construction of the road is genuine and urgent,” he stated.

 

On the same issue, Chief Minister Rio mentioned that the matter has been taken up on several occasions with the MoRTH and agreed on the importance of the road. He further highlighted that it would bring about many economic potentials and opportunities for the people.

 

After much discussion, the House, in conclusion unanimously passed that the Foothill Road construction will be completed using North Eastern Council (NEC) fund.
