The three-day monsoon session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly is set to begin on Tuesday, with a recess scheduled for Wednesday. According to the assembly secretariat, the session will address legislative business, government reports, and discussions on issues of public importance, including Question Hour and other listed matters.

Key topics likely to be taken up include the long-debated demand by five major tribes for a review of the state’s decades-old job reservation policy and the continued implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system. The House is also scheduled to deliberate on a unique agenda item: the “prohibition of satanic worship in Nagaland.”

Former home minister and NPF MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu has submitted a calling attention notice under Rule 54 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, which will be discussed after the Question Hour on the opening day.

Ahead of the session, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on the Naga Political Issue held ameeting at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, attended by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Ministers Y Patton and TR Zeliang, Speaker Sharingain Longkumer, both MPs, advisors, and MLAs.
