Nagaland’s homegrown cab-aggregator start-up UraCab expanded its footprint to Mokokchung on Tuesday, November 25, with a formal launch held at the ADC Chamber, marking its fourth location in the state.
Speaking at the launch, General Manager Keneilezo Rutsa said that with the launch, online registration for drivers on the UraCab website and mobile application (available on the Android Play Store and iOS App Store) has begun. For offline registration and coordination, District Coordinator Toshi Kichu said the company is in the process of identifying a suitable office space in Mokokchung.
Following the launch, Rutsa said the company plans to approach the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) for fare structures and will also engage with the All Nagaland Taxi Association Mokokchung (ANTAM).
He added that operations will initially focus on Mokokchung town, with phased expansion planned for adjoining areas. He further said that UraCab will also begin sensitizing both drivers and the general public in the near future.
“We are driver-focused. For those registered with us, we provide a full extended insurance of up to Rs 10 lakh in case of accidents,” Rutsa said.
Inaugurating UraCab, ADC Mokokchung Atsüngba Walling said that since the service would rely on local drivers, it is important to sensitise taxi operators and ensure safety measures as a top priority.
