New Delhi, October 11 (MTNews): Thulunso scored a hat-trick as Nagaland overcame Manipur in the U-17 Subroto Cup semi-finals to break the spell and advance to the tournament final. The squad will now face Chandigarh in the championship match on October 13.

 

After Greenwood School’s misery in the semifinals against Manipur in the U-14 category, it was up to the senior squad to get retribution in yet another semi final encounter of the Subroto Cup 2022. Thulunso came to the occasion to spare Nagaland’s blushes against the Manipur squad, scoring a hat-trick for Nagaland.

 

On Tuesday morning, Pilgrim Higher Secondary School Dimapur, representing Nagaland, beat CT Higher Secondary School Mayang Imphal in the ongoing U-17 Subroto Cup in New Delhi. Mughato Aye, the state football coach, and Akihito Zhimo, the manager, lead the squad.

 

Nagaland won their first match against Bihar 3-1, scored 16 goals against Gujarat, and defeated Assam 2-0 in their third encounter. The squad defeated Meghalaya in the quarterfinals round by a 3-2 tie breaker after the match finished in a 2-2 draw. In the semi-finals, they defeated Manipur 3-1 to go to the final.
