Thirty-five local youth from Nagaland have completed an intensive two-week training course at Central GST Dimapur, conducted by the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) Shillong. The trainees were selected in consultation with local trade bodies and represent 16 of the 17 districts in the state.
Chartered Accountants from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) were brought in from Chennai, Lucknow, Kolkata, Guwahati, and other cities to provide comprehensive training on GST basics. Officials stated that the programme will enable the Sahyogis to serve as a resource pool for small businesses across Nagaland and assist in tax compliance.
The GST Sahyogi (Helper/Companion) programme is a pilot project first implemented in Nagaland. Authorities noted that on successful completion, it will be scaled up and replicated in other parts of the country to strengthen grassroots support for GST compliance.
