The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland, has informed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll in the State, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, is currently underway. As part of the revision process, various preparatory activities and capacity-building programmes are being conducted across the State to ensure the smooth and successful implementation of the exercise.
SIR Help Desks, staffed by designated personnel and supported by dedicated helpline numbers, have been established in all District Election Offices to assist the public. The contact details of the Help Desks are available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland. Citizens may also call the toll-free helpline 1950 for information and assistance relating to the SIR.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, has conducted a series of meetings and training programmes for District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), representatives of recognised political parties and other stakeholders.
Similarly, the DEOs have organised meetings and training sessions for EROs, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officer (BLO) Supervisors, BLOs, Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and other stakeholders across their respective districts.
Regular review meetings, interactions and monitoring of SIR progress will continue at all levels to ensure the effective and timely completion of the revision process.
BLO kits, T-shirts and caps distributed for SIR 2026
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, distributed BLO Kits, T-shirts and caps to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for the conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 at the Chief Electoral Officer’s Conference Hall on August 7.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer R. Toshimeren Aier, delivering the welcome address, said BLOs are the “main functionaries in the electoral process”. He said the kits, T-shirts and caps would help keep BLOs visible and easily identifiable to the public while performing their duties during the SIR exercise.
Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland Bhagyashree Banayat, IAS, described BLOs as the “backbone of the electoral system” and acknowledged their role in ensuring an accurate and transparent electoral roll.
She also felicitated three BLOs who achieved 100 per cent mapping during the ongoing SIR. The awardees were Kiyakhrielie Miari-o, Hindi Teacher, GPS Ziezou, 11-Northern Angami; Venki Livi, Range Assistant, Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, 4-Mima; and Neidamo Leno, JSA, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
The programme included the formal distribution of the BLO kits, T-shirts and caps. Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Alila Chang chaired the programme, while Additional Chief Electoral Officer Awa Lorin delivered the vote of thanks.
