Nagaland braces for pre-monsoon weather conditions; NSDMA issues advisory

Kohima, 17 April (MTNews): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has released a weather advisory for the upcoming days, forecasting varying weather conditions across the state.

According to the NSDMA, Nagaland is likely to experience light to heavy rainfall, which is expected to be widespread. This precipitation may be accompanied by pre-monsoon activities including lightning, thunderstorms, and squally winds, with the weather patterns anticipated to persist until April 21, 2024.

Between 19 and 23 April 2024, several districts, including Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Jalukie, Noklak, Kohima, Mon, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu, and Zunheboto, are likely to witness partly cloudy and receive moderate rainfall.

In contrast, the districts of Longleng, Mokokchung, Tuensang, and Wokha are expected to experience heavy rainfall during the same period.

Temperatures across Nagaland are projected to fluctuate between a minimum of 15°C and a maximum of 41°C.

In light of these weather predictions, the NSDMA, under the Home Department, has urged the public to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines previously issued.

Furthermore, the NSDMA has called upon all District Disaster Management Authorities and relevant line departments to remain vigilant and prepared to handle any emergencies, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the safety of lives and properties.
